Foreign students can now work in UK for 2 years after graduation - Prime Minister, Boris Johnson

The British Government has said that international students will henceforth be able to stay and work in the UK after graduating in a policy change that had previously restricted the period to four months.
There will be no cap on the number of students who can apply, as those with student visa will be able to apply to switch to a skilled worker visa if they find a job which meets the relevant criteria. The new policy ends one of ex-Prime Minister Theresa May’s most controversial immigration policies which critics argued would deter international students from applying to British institutions and would lead to the loss of bright students who could contribute to the UK after being educated there.
The Guardian UK added that, from next year, all international graduates could qualify for a two-year period to work in the UK, increasing their chances of finding long-term employment after studying.
“The measure goes further than the Home Office’s latest immigration white paper, which proposed extending the four-month limit to six months and the limit for those with doctorates to a year,” Guardian stated.
It is a return to the policy that was scrapped by the coalition government in 2012 when Theresa May, as then home secretary, said the two-year post-study work visa was “too generous.”
Prime Minister Boris Johnson said the new immigration route for international students was part of making Britain “open to the brightest and best from across the globe.” It will also be seen as a move to show that Britain is still an outward facing nation as the government pushes ahead with its Brexit plans, the medium added.
Under the new plans, graduates will be able to stay and work or look for work for two years after completing their studies. The new post-study work visa will come into effect for students starting courses at undergraduate level or above in 2020, and is open to graduates in any subject and for jobs in any sector.
The government said students will need to have successfully completed a degree from a trusted UK university or higher education provider with a track record of upholding immigration checks.  In a joint statement, the Education Secretary Gavin Williamson and the Home Secretary Priti Patel said the government intends to increase the number of international students coming to the UK by 30 per cent by 2030.

NFL star Antonio Brown accused of raping his former trainer

NFL and New England Patriots star, Antonio Brown has been accused of raping a woman who formerly worked as his physical trainer.
The seven-time Pro Bowl wide receiver and one of the NFL’s most prolific pass-catchers of the past decade was named in a lawsuit filed on Tuesday, September 10.
The civil complaint filed  in the Southern District of Florida alleges Brown sexually assaulted Britney Taylor, a gymnast he met while they attended Central Michigan University together, saying he “preyed on [her] kindness and her religious devotion, casting himself as a person equally dedicated to his religious faith and someone she could trust”.
The lawsuit accuses Brown of assaulting Taylor on three separate occasions: twice in June 2017 and a third in May 2018.
The elite-level gymnast, first met Brown when they were paired as bible-study partners in their university’s Fellowship for Christian Athletes group in 2010, the complaint says, falling out of touch for several years before reconnecting on Facebook in 2017, when Brown hired her to help improve the flexibility and strength in his ankles and fast-twitch muscles. Their arrangement involved Taylor flying to Brown’s homes in Pittsburgh and Miami where he lived and trained during the offseason, the suit says.
The complaint alleges the first incident took place in June 2017, when Brown exposed himself and kissed Taylor without consent during a training session at one of his homes in the Pittsburgh area. The second allegedly happened later that month, during a training visit at Brown’s residence in Miami, when he allegedly masturbated without her knowledge as they watched a church service on Taylor’s iPad and ejaculated on her back. He was later bragging about it in a series of “astonishingly profane and angry text messages”, according to court documents.
Brown’s attorney, Darren Heitner, said in a statement issued Tuesday night, that ''the receiver denies each and every allegation in the lawsuit” and that he and Taylor were involved in an “entirely consensual” personal relationship.
Heitner said they will pursue “all legal remedies to not only clear [Brown’s] name, but to also protect other professional athletes against false accusations”.

FG concludes 2020 budget preparation, designs 11 Economic Priority Areas

The Federal Government (FG) is concluding the proposed 2020 budget appropriation bill which will be submitted to the National Assembly by the end of September 2019.
The disclosure was reportedly made by the Finance Minister, Mrs Zainab Ahmed, in her opening remarks at a high-level roundtable meeting on National Donor Coordination in Abuja on Wednesday which resulted in the decision to create a Donor Coordinating Unit.
The details: In a statement signed by Special Adviser on Media and Communication to the Finance Minister, Yunusa Tanko Abdullahi, the 2020 budget would be concluded and submitted this month, as the ministry is currently capturing the planned and ongoing programmes of donor agencies in the country.
The statement read: “The 2020 Budget preparation process is well underway and we intend to finalise and submit the 2020 appropriation bill to the National Assembly by the end of this month.
“The first step is ensuring that your donor programmes are aligned with our strategic priorities and are in turn reflected in our upcoming national budget, we will hold meetings in the next few days to better understand your ongoing and planned programmes.
“This process will ensure that we consider on-going and planned aid interventions when making our 2020 budgetary allocations, and that said interventions are reflected in the Appropriation Bill.”
11 Economic Priority Areas: Meanwhile, the minister disclosed that the present administration had designed 11 Economic Priority Areas.
According to Ahmed, in the area of economic and governance reforms, the government will focus on macroeconomic stability through coordinated economic, monetary, fiscal and trade policies; a fight against corruption and improving governance.
Speaking on investments in infrastructure and human capital, Ahmed stated that the government had planned to target “improved health, education and productivity of Nigerians; ensure energy sufficiency with power; ensure energy sufficiency with petroleum products; improve transportation and other infrastructure; and drive industrialisation, focusing on macro, small and medium-sized enterprises.”
While also outlining the government’s plan to optimise investments in physical and food security to drive inclusive socio-economic development, Ahmed disclosed that the government “plans an improved security for all citizens; enhance agriculture self-sufficiency to achieve food security; enhance social inclusion by scaling-up social investments; and improve access to mass housing & consumer credit to enhance financial inclusion.”
In her concluding remarks, Ahmed emphasized the need for a government-driven national donor coordination mechanism, noting that a well-structured approach is important to ensure that external financing is maximised to the benefit of Nigerians.
“We will work together to put in place a National Donor Coordination Mechanism that is aligned to the government’s key strategic priority areas as set out in our national plans, policies and annual budgets. While government-led, this process must be collaborative in order to succeed.”
Upshots:  While the disclosure may excite many, it came just four months after the government approved the 2019 Budget.
Following the latest disclosure by the Finance Minister, there is a possibility that the development will return Nigeria’s budget cycle back to January and December as analysts have constantly called for the reversal.
Meanwhile, the 2020 Budget is expected to be increased, just as the Presidency recently declared that 60% (N5.35 trillion) of the 2019 Budget would be rolled over to the 2020 Budget due to slow implementation.
The slow budget approval and implementation which has characterised the current administration of President Buhari is a recurring decimal which has largely affected the economy.

The 29-year-old midfielder who plays as a midfielder for Burnley, on loan from fellow Premier League club Chelsea suffered torn ankle ligaments in the fight outside Manchester's Chinawhite club early last Sunday (Sept.1).
According to Mail Online, Drinkwater is expected to be off the pitch for at least four weeks.
He is alleged to have approached Scunthorpe United player Kgosi Ntlhe's girlfriend, a move which initially caused a confrontation between the two footballers before he was attacked.
The former Leicester City player was later thrown out of the club by security before he was attacked by six thugs who then allegedly jumped on his ankle as they chanted 'break his leg' while blood spilled 'everywhere'.
A source told The Sun on Sunday: “Danny had been celebrating a friend’s birthday and by his own admission got incredibly drunk.

Contracts are not honored in Nigeria - Akon says as he revealed that he signed Davido, Psquare and others

Akon has revealed his relationship with some Nigerian music superstars which include Davido, members of the defunct Psquare music and others, as well as his contribution to Afrobeats which seems to be the genre the whole world is vibing to at the moment.
The Senegalese-born American music star in an interview on The Breakfast Club hosted by DJ Envy, Angela Yee and Charlamagne tha God, said he signed some Nigerian music stars when he relocated to his home country.
He however made a clarification by stating that the contracts was just handshakes as they are not honored in Nigeria.
“It’s not even a matter of letting him go, because in Africa, contracts really don’t exist. You just shake hands. It’s all words. Especially Nigeria, there is no contract being honoured.
“And me and Davido never had a contract. I was more like a big brother walking him through certain things, learn some things, advice, things like that" he said.
“When I was in Africa, I was building an Afrobeat team.
“When I first went out there in 2008, I signed Davido, PSquare and others. Davido is like my little brother. Did you know, Davido was originally from Atlanta? And started his music career actually in Atlanta and just decided, you know what, ‘It’s too much of a struggle here, let me go back home.’
“He went back home and just popped off like that” (snaps fingers).
Continuing, he said, “P-Square was actually the biggest act as of that time. It was a group of twin brothers. We had a song, ‘Choplife.’
“It was a huge smash. But at the time, Afrobeat wasn’t that big here.
“What I love about Davido is that he is an independent artiste. He came with the US hustle to Africa. So, he completely gets it.”
On if Davido was still signed to his record label, he said, “Nah, nah, He’s doing his own thing now.”

Televangelist Benny Hinn announces that 'Holy Spirit is fed up' with his prosperity preaching

Controversial Israeli televangelist Benny Hinn, known for his massive “healing crusades" and also associated with what has become known as prosperity gospel, has announced that he is undergoing a correction of his theology that made him and his family millions.
In a Facebook live broadcast with his followers, Benny Hinn who has been an advocate of obtaining blessings through sowing of seeds, faithful payments of tithes and offerings, delivered a full-throated rejection of the practice.
He further stated that he will never ask for $1,000 or whatever amount again because he thinks the Holy Ghost is just fed up with it. Revealing that some Pastors may not invite him to their churches again to preach and raise money for "church projects", Benny added that the Gospel “is not for sale.”
“I’m sorry to say that prosperity has gone a little crazy and I’m correcting my own theology and you need to all know it. Because when I read the Bible now, I don’t see the Bible in the same eyes I saw 20 years ago,” Hinn said as his followers rejoiced.
“I think it’s an offense to the Lord, it’s an offense to say give $1,000. I think it’s an offense to the Holy Spirit to place a price on the Gospel. I’m done with it. I will never again ask you to give $1,000 or whatever amount, because I think the Holy Ghost is just fed up with it.
“Did you hear me?” Hinn asked as his audience responded affirmatively in high spirits.
“I think it hurts the Gospel, so I’m making this statement for the first time in my life and frankly, I don’t care what people think about me anymore,” he continued.
“When they invite me to telethons I think they will not like me anymore. Because when you look at the word of God … if I hear one more time, break the back of debt with $1,000, I’m gonna rebuke them. I think that’s buying the Gospel. That’s buying the blessing. That’s grieving the Holy Spirit. … If you are not giving because you love Jesus, don’t bother giving,” Hinn argued. “I think giving has become such a gimmick; it’s making me sick to my stomach.”
Televangelist Benny Hinn is however not the first prosperity preacher to publicly denounce the practice.  Earlier this year, Joyce Meyer told viewers, “I’m glad for what I learned about prosperity, but it got out of balance. I’m glad for what I learned about faith, but it got out of balance,” explaining, “every time someone had problems it was ’cause they didn’t have enough faith. If you got sick, you didn’t have enough faith. If your child died, you didn’t have enough faith … Well, that’s not right.”
Benny Hinn's nephew,  Costi Hinn had also revealed in his new book, God, Greed, and the (Prosperity) Gospel: How Truth Overwhelms a Life Built on Lies, how his family exploited millions around the world with the prosperity gospel and often traded so-called miracles for money.
