Without regular sex women risk mental disorder – Nigerian Psychiatrist

A Nigerian psychiatrist, Dr Maymunah Kadiri has advised married women to have regular sex with their spouses in order to prevent depression and be happy.
Kadiri, who is the Medical Director of Pinnacle Medical Services gave the advice in a recent interview saying sex is not just to nourish a woman’s body, but it is also beneficial to her mental health.
“As women, there is need for us to make our spouses our best friends if we want to be mentally healthy. Studies have shown that women who have more active sex and in long term relationships were less likely to be depressed than women who went without sex.
So, more sex is important and essential. It is a remedy to curing women from having persistent headache. Low sexual drive, which leads to depression, should be looked into.
A woman can be depressed when that sexual drive that she used to have is no more there. Frequent active sex can play good roles toward women’s sense of well being and quality of life,’’ Kadiri said.
She explained that sex was not just for procreation and to have children, adding that it could create bonding, good companionship and sound sleep. Kadiri, popularly called ‘celebrity shrink’, urged women dealing with depression to frequently indulge in sex, while boosting their self-esteem.

CIA concludes with high confidence that Saudi Crown Prince ordered the execution of journalist Khashoggi

Based on available intelligence, the CIA has concluded that Saudi Crown Prince, Mohammad bin Salman likely ordered the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, contradicting the Saudi government's claim that he was not involved in the killing.
A team of 15 Saudi agents flew to Istanbul on government aircraft in October and killed Khashoggi inside the Saudi Consulate, where he had gone to pick up documents that he needed for his planned marriage to a Turkish woman, the Washington Post reports.
CIA officials said they have high confidence in the assessment they carried out on the murder of Khashoggi. It is the most definitive assessment to date, linking Mohammed to the operation and complicates the Trump administration’s efforts to preserve its relationship with Saudi, a close ally.
To arrive at it's conclusions, CIA examined multiple sources of intelligence, including a phone call that the prince’s brother Khalid bin Salman, who is the Saudi ambassador to the United States, had with Khashoggi. During the call, Khalid told Khashoggi that he should go to the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul to retrieve the documents he needed for his wedding and gave him assurances that it would be safe to do so.
It is not clear if Khalid knew that Khashoggi would be killed, but he made the call at his brother’s direction, according to the people familiar with the call, which was intercepted by U.S. intelligence.
The CIA also arrived at their conclusion based on the agency’s assessment of the prince as the country’s de facto ruler who oversees even minor affairs in the kingdom.
“The accepted position is that there is no way this happened without him being aware or involved,” said a U.S. official familiar with the CIA’s conclusions.

NDIC says ten Banks account for 87% of banking fraud

Ten Deposit Money Banks accounted for about 87.63 per cent of fraud and forgeries that occurred in the banking sector in the 2017 fiscal period.
According to the 2017 annual report of the banking sector prepared by the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), out of the total amount of N12.01 billion fraud which the banking sector recorded in 2017, the ten banks accounted for N10.53 billion.
The report, however, did not reveal the identities of these banks.
“The number of fraud cases and the amount involved remained historically high while efforts were being made to stem the tide through adequate supervisory foresight and interventions by the authorities, as well as an initiative by the respective bank management to broaden the depth of internal control processes.”
The NDIC report also revealed that fraud incidences perpetrated through Automated Teller Machine platform and other card related channels had the highest frequency and actual loss sustained by banks in 2017.
“Fraud incidences perpetrated using ATM platform and other card related channels had the highest frequency and actual loss sustained by insured DMBs in 2017. The frequency and actual loss recorded in ATM/Card-related channels were 16,397 and ₦0.798 billion. That was higher than ₦0.504 billion and ₦0.476 billion in 2015 and 2016, with respective frequencies of 8,039 and 11,244 cases.”
This was followed by web-based fraud and fraudulent transfers/withdrawal of deposits with 7,869 and 963 attempts, respectively. The actual loss recorded through these channels, according to the report, stood at N0.71 billion and N0.32 billion in 2017.

Staff related frauds and forgeries

In 2017, 320 cases of fraud and forgery were staff-related, representing 1.22% of the entire frauds cases. This represents an increase of 38.5% from 231 cases reported in 2016 but declined by 31.2% and 24.7% from 425 and 465 cases recorded in 2014 and 2015, respectively.
A breakdown shows Officers and Executive Assistants, as well as Managers, accounted for 25.9% and 21.3% of the total fraud cases during the year. While Messengers, Drivers, Cleaners, Security Guards constituted 4.1% of the total fraud cases.
This has further reinforced the need to harden the entire internal control processes by Deposit Money Banks Management to help identify potential weaknesses by employing adequate checks and balances to protect the institution.

Oshiomole threatens to sue Saraki, describes him as a disgrace to democracy

The fight betwen APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomole and Senate President Bukola Saraki, this morning, took a different turn with Oshiomole threatening to sue Saraki.
Saraki had in an interview with newsmen in Ilorin yesterday, said Oshiomhole has ‘no locus standi to talk about morality in today’s Nigeria’s politics'. He alleged that Oshiomole collected financial gratifications from some APC members during the party's primaries in October.
“I think Oshiomhole has no locus standi to talk about morality today. Oshiomhole is somebody who has been told to have been collecting not even naira but dollars from candidates and he is being accused by his party’s aspirants and governors.
I don’t think he has any moral ground, even to continue to be in politics, not to talk about being a chairman of a party.
Reacting to Saraki's claim, Oshiomole in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Simon Ebegbulem, threatened to sue Saraki if he fails to mention one aspirant that allegedly gave him money.
“It is sad that Saraki, who just woke up from slumber occasioned by his crushing defeat at the Port Harcourt presidential primary of his party, could degenerate to such a low level.
“It is equally sad, but not unexpected, that Saraki, who is politically drowning, would make such libelous comments against the national chairman of the APC. And I challenge Saraki to mention one name of an aspirant that gave money to the National Chairman or we file a legal action against him.
“Whereas the basis on which he made those comments was tenuous and unjustifiable, it is on record that Saraki has been in the eye of investigations by the EFCC and the ICPC for sundry cases of corruption.
“That is the same man that has taken it upon himself to question Comrade Oshiomhole’s credibility.”
“We challenge him to mention one person who has claimed that he gave money to Oshiomhole to influence him and the decision of the party’s national working committee in the just-concluded primary elections. We insist that Saraki with his kind of prebendal politics is nothing but a monumental disgrace to the nation’s democracy.”

Zayn Malik says he no longer identifies as Muslim and he gets attacked by Muslims

Zayn Malik said he no longer identifies as a Muslim and his declaration has caused a firestorm and earned him attacks from Muslims.
The former One Direction band member granted an interview to British Vogue where he said he never talked about his religious beliefs but added, "I’m not professed to be a Muslim". He was then asked if he would call himself a Muslim now and he says thoughtfully, "No, I wouldn’t".
Zayn says he appreciates the fact that he went to Mosque and learned about Islam and that there are beautiful parts of the faith but he chooses not to identify with it any more.
The news was met with shock in his home city, Bradford, not because he no longer identifies as a Muslim but because he had the courage to admit it. Some are saying that it’s hardly a surprise given Zayn’s penchant for smoking, drinking and showing off tattoos but others have reacted with frightening fury.
A lot of followers are calling for him to be unfollowed. And some have done and threatened even worse, to the extent of being vile and abusive.
There are people saying he needs more prayers and guidance at this turbulent time, that he’s obviously lost.

Senate to probe FG over reduction of MTN’s $8.1 billion fine

The Nigerian Senate has queried the decision of the Federal Government to reduce the $8.1 billion fine imposed on MTN to $800 million.
The red chamber also condemned the failure of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), to implement its (Senate) report on alleged illegal repatriation of $14 billion by MTN.
Senator Rafiu Ibrahim, the Chairman of Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions, maintained that the CBN failed to implement Senate’s resolutions passed to it before conducting another investigation into the alleged infraction by MTN.
Ibrahim said that his committee would immediately demand CBN report on the matter to be better informed.
According to Ibrahim, the only way Nigerians would know what transpired between the CBN and MTN on the $8.1 billion fine was through a detailed report.
“We took them up on the issue, and the apex bank told us how they did the investigation. We’re taking them up based on the fact that we have investigated and we saw what happened.
“All our resolutions were passed to them, and they did not even implement the resolutions before saying they’re going into another investigation.
“They said their investigation was based on a petition from a law firm and their stand was that the penalty was correct. So, if from the information you have now, it will be ridiculous for them to say they’re bringing the penalty down from $8.1billion to about $800million. That will be ridiculous for the CBN.”
Recall that the CBN, had in late August, demanded that MTN Group Limited refund the sum of $8.1 billion which it was accused of illegally moving from Nigeria through the help of four banks, including CitiBank, Diamond Bank, Standard Chartered Bank and Stanbic IBTC Bank.
For their role in this alleged crime, the banks were also sanctioned by the Nigerian apex bank to the tune of ₦5.86 billion.
MTN and the affected banks all denied this claim, even as new evidence soon emerged that the telecoms company is owing Nigeria the sum of $2 billion in back taxes.
Nairametrics had reported that some stakeholders in the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), have expressed displeasure over MTN’s constant infractions and troubles with the Nigerian authorities while also urging the leading telco to desist from denting the public’s perception of them.
The stakeholders are also stressed the need for MTN to get its act together by entrenching the culture of best practice, good corporate governance and ensuring that they abide by Nigeria’s laws ahead of the company’s Initial Public Offering (IPO) which is expected by May next year.
