Insecurity: Abia State Government Affirms Commitment to Tackle Criminality

Naval Commander Macdonald Ubah (Rtd), the Senior Special Adviser on Security Matters to the Governor of Abia State, has reaffirmed the current administration's unwavering determination to confront criminal activities across all parts of Abia. Speaking on Wednesday in Umuahia, Ubah emphasized the state's proactive stance in combatting crime and its efforts to enhance intelligence gathering and surveillance through a robust security architecture.

In an interview, Ubah shed light on past challenges when various criminal gangs, including kidnappers, wreaked havoc on lives and public assets during the tenure of previous administrations under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state. He highlighted a shift from the past practices of accommodating criminal elements to the present administration's unequivocal stance against criminality.

Governor Alex Otti's leadership, as noted by Ubah, is resolute in its commitment to eradicate any disruptions to the peace and security of Abia and its citizens. Gone are the days when ransom payments were made to heartless abductors and bandits to secure the release of victims from captivity, according to the security advisor.

Ubah expressed his concern over the recent tragic incident in Aba, the state's commercial hub. He lamented the loss of two policemen in a clash that transpired between security agencies and traders at Ariaria International market. This incident underscored the ongoing challenges in maintaining security and order within the state.

In the face of these security challenges, the Abia State government stands firm in its resolve to tackle criminal elements and restore a sense of safety for its residents. The administration's focus on intelligence gathering, surveillance, and a proactive security approach showcases its determination to overcome criminality and ensure the well-being of the people. As the state moves forward, the commitment to enhanced security remains a top priority to foster a stable environment conducive to growth and prosperity.
