BREAKING: Lagos Assembly confirms 22 Sanwo-Olu’s commissioner-nominees, rejects 17

In a significant development, the Lagos State House of Assembly granted its approval on Wednesday to 22 individuals out of the 39 cabinet nominees who had been submitted by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for a comprehensive screening process. The confirmation of these nominees comes as a result of meticulous and thorough evaluations conducted by an ad-hoc committee. This committee, helmed by the Chief Whip of the House, Hon. Fatai Mojeed, ensured that only the most deserving candidates moved forward in the selection process.

Presiding over the session, Speaker of the House, Rt Hon Mudashiru Obasa, expressed his commendation for the ad-hoc committee's exceptional dedication and attention to detail. He reminded the confirmed nominees that their primary duty is to the people of the State and emphasized that they hold positions to serve the greater public interest, rather than catering to individual preferences.

Speaker Obasa took the opportunity to reassure the public that the House remains steadfast in its commitment to advancing the welfare of the State. This assurance reflects the Assembly's determination to uphold the trust placed in them by the citizens they represent.

The confirmation itself was executed through a collective voice vote, with Speaker Obasa announcing the names of each nominee. Nonetheless, amidst this wave of approvals, the Assembly rejected the nominations of 17 individuals. This outcome underscores the rigorous nature of the selection process and the Assembly's unwavering dedication to ensuring that only the most qualified and capable candidates assume key positions in the State government.
