NFF president, Amaju Melvin Pinnick Organisers of the Zenith
bank sponsored national U-13 and U15 competition also known as ‘Future Super
Eagles’, the Nigeria Football Federation has reassured that the annual
tournament will be concluded soon as football activities resume after the
coronavirus pandemic.
This was one of the decisions arrived at by the football
federation over the weekend during the video conference meeting by the Executive
Committee members. It will be recalled that all sporting activities have been
suspended due to the outbreak of the dreaded COVID-19 Pandemic across the
world.
A part of the communiqué released at the end of the meeting
reads “The NFF/Zenith Bank Future Eagles Championship, which state competitions
have already been concluded (with some zones having also completed their
competitions) will run its full course immediately after the COVID-19 and
resumption of football activities.”
Reacting to the assurance from the NFF, the CEO of Zenith
Bank, Ebenezer Onyeagwu, said the outfit was very committed to the development
of football in the country and sports in general especially from the
grassroots. According to him, the financial institution has already seen the
impact of their investment in the Future Eagles as some of the products of the
cadet tournament are already playing for the various junior national teams.
