The House Of Representatives chamber got quite rowdy today,
as lawmakers fought over the minority leadership position.
The fight was ignited by House of Representatives' speaker,
Femi Gbajabiamila’s decision to announce Ndudi Elumelu as minority leader even
after the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) sent a letter to the House nominating
Kingsley Chinda as minority leader on Wednesday, July 3.
Gbajabiamila who ignored the party’s nominee and announced
Elumelu also of the PDP as minority leader, saw the mace being snatched by one
of the lawmakers present.
According to reports, the announcement which led to the
rowdy session witnessed today at the Green Chamber, was in retaliation to the
opposition party's call for its members not to vote for Femi Gbajabiamila as
the House of Representatives Speaker.
