Afrobeats sensation David Adeleke, famously known as Davido, made a grand gesture at his wedding by gifting his wife, Chioma Rowland, a brand new car on Tuesday. 

A video from the event captures the heartwarming moment when Davido presented the car to Chioma. Overwhelmed with joy, Chioma eagerly rushed into the car as soon as it was unveiled. This isn't the first time Davido has shown his love through such a generous gift; he also gifted Chioma a car back in 2019.

Davido recently surprised many by announcing that he and Chioma would be tying the knot. Their wedding was a star-studded affair, attracting dignitaries such as Governors Ademola Adeleke (Osun), Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Alex Otti (Abia), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and the Ooni of Ife, HRH Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi.

The event also saw the presence of numerous celebrities, adding to the glamour of the occasion.

Peter Obi, the Labour Party's presidential candidate in the 2023 election, has criticized the Federal Government's plan to acquire new jets for President Bola Tinubu and his deputy, Kashim Shettima. According to a report, the House of Representatives Committee on National Security and Intelligence has asked the government to purchase these new aircraft.

Obi, citing the country's current economic hardships, said this move demonstrates the government's "extreme insensitivity to citizens' struggles." In a series of social media posts, the former Anambra governor noted that the decision is disconnected from the pressing issues of rising insecurity, poverty, hunger, and homelessness plaguing the nation. He described the decision as unacceptable, arguing that the situation demands a more compassionate use of resources, with a focus on improving citizens' welfare.

Obi pointed out that the average age of Nigeria's presidential jets is 12 years, purchased when most Nigerians could afford basic necessities. However, he said that now, as the country faces significant challenges, including a high debt profile, citizens are in even greater need. Obi argued that instead of adding to the government's luxuries, the focus should be on alleviating the suffering of the people and finding solutions to their problems.

The former governor criticized the government's priorities, stating that they are at odds with the needs of society, which is why the country is headed in the wrong direction. He cited examples, such as the government spending $15 million on the Vice President's residence, while the United States, with a much larger economy and higher per capita income, houses its Vice President in a house built over 100 years ago, valued at around $7.5 million. Obi called for an end to this "impunity, insensitivity, and shamelessness" and urged the government to prioritize education, healthcare, and lifting citizens out of poverty.

On Thursday, President Bola Tinubu hosted President Bassirou Diomaye Faye of Senegal at the Presidential Villa. During their brief but meaningful interaction, Tinubu emphasized the need for a unified approach in West Africa to tackle the region's pressing issues.

Tinubu highlighted that West African nations must collaborate to combat terrorism, banditry, human trafficking, and poverty. He urged regional leaders to prioritize the welfare of their people, stressing that the true essence of democracy is lost if the citizens are not the focal point of governance.

The president underscored the importance of upholding democratic values, constitutional order, and respect for institutions like the judiciary and the rule of law. "Constitutional democracy is what Senegal has exemplified to Africa and the world. It's a joy to have you here, representing the hope and aspirations of our youth," Tinubu remarked.

He described Nigeria and Senegal as brotherly nations with a longstanding history of cooperation. "We are brothers with a shared interest in democracy. To make democracy sustainable for our people, we must work diligently. I admire your patience, perseverance, and commitment to democratic values," Tinubu said.

Tinubu called for a partnership focused on the people, aligning with the belief in Africa's sovereignty. He questioned how leaders can serve their citizens and uphold democracy if they violate the rule of law and promote unconstitutional governance.

As the Chairman of ECOWAS, Tinubu invited President Faye to collaborate and persuade other regional leaders to adhere to democratic principles. "We will continue to work together, promoting democratic governance and economic growth. It's up to us to assure our people and follow through on our commitments," he concluded.
